The Luangwa Valley of Zambia is rightly known as one of the best safari destinations in Africa. Walking safaris, sleep outs and experiencing unique bushcamps are all signature moments when visiting the Luangwa and Luambe National Park offers a wilderness safari that brings all of these incredible Luangwa moments to life across 4 nights.
“A most enjoyable and memorable trip. The walking was unique, diverse and great. This park has to be one of our favourite. The staff, management guide and scout were impeccable, attentive and very good. Overall 10/10 experience – world class. Will definitely recommend this place to others! Thank you all.”

This experience is aimed for the adventurous and for the explorers who want to totally immerse themselves in this pristine and remote wilderness area. Our first guests who experienced the sleep-out fell asleep to the call of a leopard followed by the distant roar of lions.
Our Luambe sleepouts are generally run on your second or third night in the park where instead of heading back to camp after your afternoon game drive, you will be taken to a your secret sleep out site where you will spend the night. A bush dinner will be served at the sleep out site and ablutions will be within walking distance to your net. Your guide and scout will always be nearby, ensuring you get a peaceful nights sleep under the starry Zambian sky.
What safari activities are available at Luambe?
Visiting hides and enjoying a walking safari are our preferred ways to spend the mornings in Luambe. These activities are particular enjoyable when the air is still cool, the bush is awakening after the long night and the light is soft. We sometimes conclude our walking safari with a surprise bush breakfast in a shady spot too. The late afternoon is a great time for game drives. Your evening game drive will always include a special spot to stop, stretch the legs and with a sundowner in hand, watch the pinky sunsets over the park. We then drive back in the dark with the spotlights looking for nocturnal wildlife before returning to camp for dinner.
What is so special about Luambe National Park and how easy is it to get there?
Luambe National Park is located on the eastern bank of the Luangwa River, halfway between South and North Luangwa National Park. It is one of the oldest protected areas in Zambia and was first given national park status in 1938. Nevertheless, because of its remote location on the eastern bank of the Luangwa river, the Park has remained essentially unchanged – largely because it’s off the beaten track, a secluded, tranquil place not covered by the usual tourist routes.

The easiest way to get to Luambe would be to fly Mfuwe Airport via Lusaka.
A member of the Luambe Camp team will then meet you at the airport and transfer you into camp. The airlines currently flying into Zambia are: Emirates via Dubai, Ethiopian Airlines, Airlink, Kenya Airways and Air Tanzania.
You’re just 3 steps away from visiting the Luangwa
